Antique Penny Rug

I saw this antique penny rug and loved the graphic appeal. I adapted the penny rug for hooking and for punch needle. Both projects appeared in the Holiday issue of Create and DecorateAntique Penny Rug adaptation for punch needle embroidery 2009. I created this  pin for my winter coat. 3 x 2.25 inches

Log Cabin

Inspired by the quilt pattern, Log Cabin, this little piece matches myLog Cabin design for punch needle embroidery hooked rug design of the same name. I worked mine through  a wool background fabric, using a pattern on interfacing. 5 x 7 inches

I love old game boards! the early designs and dry paint just scream country primitives. Stars & Stripes

Here is another adaptation from an old hooked rug created fromAntique Stars & Stripes pattern for punch needle strips of old flags. This one is also offered as a hooked rug design. I worked this design using 2 strands of wool thread on weaver's cloth, and then simply mounted it and framed it.  4 x 4 inches
